Religion Education:
The most
important responsibility of any
parish is to transmit the
Catholic faith to the next
generation. Our Religious
Education program utilizes a
team of volunteer catechists who
assist parents in presenting to
our students both the teaching
and traditions of the Church as
well as the opportunity to apply
those teachings to their life.
Presently
we have enrolled over 600
students who attend classes that
are held on Sunday, Monday,
Tuesday and Thursday.
We strive
to have a classroom experience
that is small enough so that it
fosters the opportunity for
students and teachers to engage
in discussion as well as
completing the curriculum.
During the
school year on the first Sunday
of the month there is a Family
Mass at 9:30AM which offers
different grades the experience
of actively participating in
planning and participating in
the liturgy as readers, servers,
ushers, and singers. Each Mass
is followed by refreshments.
Prior to
the reception of the Sacraments
of First Penance, First
Communion and Confirmation a
parent meeting is held so that
parents can become aware of the
subject matter that will be
taught. In this way parents can
reinforce at home the work that
is presented in the classroom.
Our
Confirmation preparation
involves and year long intense
program that begins in the fall
with a retreat day for the
candidates. Also required is the
completion of a service project
as well as a research report on
the name to be taken at
Confirmation.
Opportunities to participate in
the Youth Choir or become an
altar server help students
become more actively involved in
parish life
